Cute ass whippers!

Phew but its been a while since I.ve posted anything, so well its about time... Firstly I would like to share a deep dark secret. I love tiny little mouse cars just as much as I would love big massive powerful cars like the SLS AMG. Sure it is wonderful to melt the tar on the road with your big V8 and have exploding crashes, but these big cars nearly always have major downfalls when it comes down to the whole package.

Now let me tell you this, you do get cars that do all that and have next to nothing faults. Cars that are great to drive, fast and make you laugh without the terror of a big crash. They are almost perfect for everyone, girls love them and love it even more if guys drive them. What car could be all this?

Well...

Mini's
Well, super Mini's yes. You see these cars are light, great to drive and have humongous turbo's and superchargers. Some even have jet engines, well ok, it feels like a jet engine. They come with alloy mags that are huge and have fancy sound systems, bonkers in every way but the most important thing it the way you feel in them. You know your driving a glorified go-cart and that your only going 60km/h but you don't care because it feels like you doing 1000km/h and that you have a Buggati Veyron engine under that 2cm bonnet. These cars just put a huge smile on your face and you can't help but to fall in love with them.

Now you probably want to go experience this for yourself and you car, without a huge price tag. The question just is which one to go for. I've sorted them out and there are three that stand out...

1# Suzuki Swift 1.6 sport

The Suzuki first of all most has replaced the Mini Cooper, It's much better.
With it's clever multivalve system we see the 1.6 put out 92kw.
0-100 in 8.9sec.
Now remember that these cars aren't really Buggati's so 92kw is huge ! Think of it as a go-cart with 92kw.
This car is in our top three because it just is so much fun.
Loads of quality for the tiny price tag of under R200 000.00

2#Abarth 500

Some might not be familiar with Abarth so let me tell you who they are. AMG is a in-house tuning company for Mercedes-Benz, so Abarth is an in-house tuning company for FIAT. So look at it like a FIAT 500c AMG.
Yes its that fast, or at least you will think it is.
Its 1.4 turbo charged mouse gives you 99kw to play with.
This car is also a massive fashion icon and a car icon. If only a Ferrari can feel the way this car feels.
It has everything in terms of what you want and need in a car.

3#Alfa Romeo MiTo quadrifoglio verde

Yes I always include the MiTo in all my top lists just because its that good. This car is not only sexy but the quadrifoglio verde is quite fast and very good to drive. It is also the most powerful car on our list with 125kw.
This car has it all including the fantastic Alfa D.N.A system which lets you choose what type of driving you want. This car doesn't only make you smile but warms your heart as well.

Now if I had to choose one, anyone. You might think I'll take the MiTo because of the way I go on about the car, but your wrong. It has to be the Little FIAT 500 Abarth because it truly is amazing.

We got the bug, Alfa-rites

We have always loved Alfa Romeo, it has a special place in every car fans heart, you pause every time you see one drive down the road, some even squeal like a little girl.

Well we did when we saw what was coming. Some say when you get exposed to an Alfa you get the Alfa bug, thats what we have, and have it badly. Alfa-rites.

First we saw the MiTo and fell inlove, then it was the Giulietta. Even VW caught the Alfa Bug.

Well I think we have it again. Its called the 4C, yes, little sister of the 8C.

Its the same size as the little MiTo, but its not a bad thing.
2 seater with a weight of 850kg. Add the 4 cylinder turbo charged 1.7 from the Giulietta and we get a real sports Alfa. The engine is going to be placed in the middle with rear-wheel drive, so its a super-car layout.

Its beautiful with speed and design in mind. This car will be the car to have when it comes out... In 2012.

Alfa do want to sell it all over the world, so hopefully it will be sold here in S.A...
I know if it gets sold here I will be buying one.

Geneva show 2011

While we have all been living our daily lives, something big has been going on. One of the worlds most important motor shows. The Geneva show 2011.

Now to start off with we will tell you that this year some really weired things have happened. For the first time ever there is an electric car up to win the world car of the year. The Nissan Leaf.
Nissan LEAF

Now along with the LEAF and also potential world car of the year winner is the new Audi A8 and BMW 5 series. We hope that all the fancy-ness of the A8 will take it to top spot. Now its not that we are against the LEAF, we think that electric power is the past and that Hydrogen-full-cell should get a move on. We hate the ugliness of the BMW. The A8 is perfect.

Bigger news is that Range Rover has given in, They announced the Range_e, which is based on the Range Rover sport with a 3.0 liter V6, but this time the V6 has an electric engine that comes with, making the Range Rover a Hybrid.
Range_e Hybrid

The luxury car brand has felt the blow in these times with petrol being hated so much so they put that saying into use, "If you can't beat them, Join'em." So Rolls Royce now has a fully electric Phantom.

More will be updated as soon as more things happen.

Hot hatch daddy? RS or OPC?

Hot hatch daddy? RS or OPC?

There is one car we have been neglecting these past few months. A car that has been many, many years in the making. We haven’t heard the name in quite some time now, and it’s the RS.

The not so new Ford Focus RS. It was said to be impossible to have a front wheel drive car to work with more than 200kw. The front wheels just can’t do the steering and handle all that power.
Now the Focus RS with its 2.5l, 5-cylinder Volvo engine produces a whopping 224kw. In a front wheel drive car.
This all works thanks to all the tech underneath, the RS truly opened the door to unbelievable speed in a Hot hatch. It had a  Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing LSD, and a specially designed MacPherson strut suspension at the front called RevoKnuckle.  Put it all in one pot and the outcome is astonishing.

Figures for RS

Figures
0-100 km/h : 5.9 s
Top speed: 263 km/h

__________________________________________________________________________________
Now you might be wondering why we chose now to talk about the RS, well it’s simple really…
We wanted to wait for the previous daddy, The Opel Astra OPC, to catch up. And it did.

Don't be fooled with the GTC, It will be the OPC.

Little is known about the 2012 Opel Astra OPC but what we can tell you is that they have aimed there engine to produce 223kw which is not far behind the Focus, the car will be lighter but the big thing is the way it handles the power.
The current Astra OPC is unfortunately bad at everything else than going straight really fast. That problem was the downfall of the car, Opel do say they recognize that and will fit the car with a wider chassis, electronic LSD and Vauxhall’s FlexiRide adaptive damping.
There is little out there of the OPC but we think Opel wants the crown back for being the daddy of Hot Hatch backs.
