Hot hatch daddy? RS or OPC?

Hot hatch daddy? RS or OPC?

There is one car we have been neglecting these past few months. A car that has been many, many years in the making. We haven’t heard the name in quite some time now, and it’s the RS.

The not so new Ford Focus RS. It was said to be impossible to have a front wheel drive car to work with more than 200kw. The front wheels just can’t do the steering and handle all that power.
Now the Focus RS with its 2.5l, 5-cylinder Volvo engine produces a whopping 224kw. In a front wheel drive car.
This all works thanks to all the tech underneath, the RS truly opened the door to unbelievable speed in a Hot hatch. It had a  Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing LSD, and a specially designed MacPherson strut suspension at the front called RevoKnuckle.  Put it all in one pot and the outcome is astonishing.

Figures for RS

Figures
0-100 km/h : 5.9 s
Top speed: 263 km/h

Now you might be wondering why we chose now to talk about the RS, well it’s simple really…
We wanted to wait for the previous daddy, The Opel Astra OPC, to catch up. And it did.

Don't be fooled with the GTC, It will be the OPC.

Little is known about the 2012 Opel Astra OPC but what we can tell you is that they have aimed there engine to produce 223kw which is not far behind the Focus, the car will be lighter but the big thing is the way it handles the power.
The current Astra OPC is unfortunately bad at everything else than going straight really fast. That problem was the downfall of the car, Opel do say they recognize that and will fit the car with a wider chassis, electronic LSD and Vauxhall’s FlexiRide adaptive damping.
There is little out there of the OPC but we think Opel wants the crown back for being the daddy of Hot Hatch backs.

The love cars

So its valentines day today and love is all around. You buy chocolates and flowers, eat chocolates and then have a picnic in the back garden just before it starts to pour down with rain, because of global warming.

You think the rain might of just spoiled your whole day, when actually it gives you the best ending. There you are in the rain with your valentine, outside and alone... Hmmm get the picture?

Now we think thats all lame. If you really want a fantastic valentines day gift, it's not a smooch in the rain but more the creative-ness of ones heart. Like these fantastic Valentines Day cars we found on the net.

In Egypt, someone done this, hearts to them.

How romantic is this? Being picked up in a car decorated in chocolate hearts just for you.

This love-bug is completely full of chocolate. How romantic.

This is the final one. And would you just look at that. Drive around town in a heart thats just for the two of you.

But wait theres more... You see Smart had this idea as well. Making a car for that special day for that special someone. So if you are up to being known as the most unforgeable valentine ever then you can have your smart rapped in valentines day things.

Happy Valentines Day!

Some naughty things to do when your bored and have a super-car.

Race through a small city and scare old people with the noise it makes... Like this guy in his 430 Scuderia...

Gather everyone you know who has a F430 and some bikes, then race them up a hill...

Race on some highway late at night with a Nissan and beat the Lambo...

Attract a crowd at the local supermarket while trying to park...

Lexus attacks with a V10

Lexus has always been know for being the Mercedes-Benz of Japan. Some even say that it's a fancy Toyota. We strongly disagree. We have always loved Lexus for their perfect quality and wonderful interiors.

When we first saw that Lexus is taking on the ///M3 with its IS F, we thought they are going mad. We thought that Lexus should stop trying with sports cars. Thankfully the people at Lexus were not listening and so they got a few engineers to build something completely out of character for Lexus. They built the LFA super-car.

Now we have seen the inside and my goodness, I think it has the best interior I have ever seen inside a super-car. Lexus's DNA really shows in this car. Don't think its all about leather either because this thing has a V10 in the front. Carbon ceramic Disk brakes, Six-speed sequential automatic gear-box and is made out of super light  Carbon-fiber.

Put all this together and you get:

  • 412kw
  • 325km/h
  • 0-100km/h - 3.7s

For a Lexus, those figures are amazing. Lexus say they are only making 500 of them which will make this car just one of those we can admire forever. A true master piece...

New Audi A8, Luxury dream.

Welcome to the new Audi A8

Audi say that this is the “art of progress”. We really have to agree, by the look of things Audi might just have out done themselves with the A8, they might have even taken over the role of the Mercedes-Benz S-class.
Audi have focused there technology around seven main points to bring you a full luxury experience. 4-zone automatic air conditioning; seat comfort; Audi space frame; gearboxes;  Audi drive select; Quattro-drive with sports differential and dynamic steering.

Put all these seven elements together and we have one of the best luxury cars around.
The A8 comes with three engines; 3.0T; 4.2 V8 FSI and 4.2 TDI. Since we like petrol rather then diesel lets focus on the 4.2 V8 FSI.

273Kw
445nm of torque
0>100km/h 5.7s

Let’s talk price. If you want an A8 4.2 V8 FSI with no extras, we are looking at a price of about R1,105,905.00.

Now I know that’s quite pricy but look at it like this, if you had one, no one will ever turn you down from a business deal because the A8 means business. You can drive the A8 and enjoy it. It won’t just be a get you to work car, it will be you everything car.

Unfortunately the Mercedes-Benz S-class still leads in our books. Audi have great things but just not enough to win us over and beat the S-class.

Gull-wing madness! New Pagani Huayra

Yes thats right! You thought that Pagani was done after they announced that they will stop making their only car, the Zonda. It was sad to hear, thankfully is was to a good cause. The Zonda was stopped to make room for Pagani's newest car, the Huayra. (We couldn't pronounce that either.)

It took seven years in the making, the Huayra or also known as the C9 project was born in 2003. Although the Zonda is now over we can still see the DNA of the Zonda in the Huayra. Pagani say that the new car was designed around air. Mercedes-Benz still make the engine but this time it is a 6.0 V12 AMG.

We love the Gull-wing doors and the mad exhausts, the funky mags and the spoilers that pop out everywhere to force the car to the ground.

The 6.0 V12 engine gives you more than 514 KW.
Seven speed gearbox.

Pagani proved that they will forever be the craziest super-car makers around!

Now lets let the car talk for its self with a few photo's from http://www.netcarshow.com/.

A look back at 2010

 What’s up?

So, you may have been wondering why we have been so quite? Well let’s just say that everybody needs to take leave, so our offices were closed for a bit. While we have been snoozing away, many new things have happened. We found this very irritating but that’s how life works, sleep and miss it all.
So far the news is pretty bad, petrol has risen, again. Diesel went up as well. Egypt is destroying it’s self and soon we all will be using boats, thanks to the huge amounts of rain.
Sadly in the car world the same has happened, except no car company has set its self on fire yet. There have been big new releases these two weeks we were off! For example: Somehow we never saw the new Audi A8 coming. The man who is responsible for keeping an eye on Audi has been fired. How could he not see the biggest and most luxury-est of the Audi sedans? The A8 looks so good and the features are so mind blowing. Gladly we will bring you a more detailed update on the A8 so check back sometime to see!
“So far the news is pretty bad, petrol has risen, again. Diesel went up as well. Egypt is destroying it’s self and soon we all will be using boats, thanks to the huge amounts of rain”.
Apart from the A8 there is the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. A Range Rover competitor, it surly has some beef to pick. This somewhat huge 4X4 has the exact same looks as the old one, just been funked up a bit. The quality does amaze! We will also later on bring you a full article.
Furthermore I would just like to say that we are back up and will make up for lost time.
