The 90's, Is it still worth it to be driving around in there?
I was sitting one day just after having my old fiat fixed AGAIN and thought about how much easier it will be to just sell it and buy myself a newer car. You see, new cars are annoyingly reliable. You never see them on the side of the road. Its always someone who's alone and stuck on the mountain with an old Uno. Wait actually that was me.
Now when I realized what I was thinking of, I immediately banged my head on the nearest tree because that is such a stupid idea. Let me explain.
If you are running an old car you always get a sense of enjoyment. Its not just a car where you jump in, then go to the sea for a holiday. Its a car that you warm-up first for hours and then set off knowing that you will breakdown by the most spectacular mountain view. After you have had the best experience of your life you go back to the old machine, lo and behold it mended its self and you are able to go to the sea for your holiday.
Its such hard work but the repayment when you have the car running is unbelievably good. I just have a Uno but when its working and I'm on the road , its like removing your girlfriends bra-strap for the first time. It is exciting and you feel on top of the world.
That must be why you see grandfathers always in them, not because the pension wont last but because they understand this true joy of motoring. New cars have seem to have lost there ability to connect to their owners. Driving now is just the way of getting to work. In a old car you can't help but fall in love. Not just with the car but with driving as well.
Now don't get me wrong. There are flabbing great new cars out there but those cars are always the expensive models. When in the past even a cheap car could make you feel like your Michael Schumacher.
I'm not talking about 1756 old cars, I'm talking about from like the 80's and 90's.
So to some it up, I truly understand the passion felt for the old car. They can be in so many ways better then today's cars.
If you have an old car then tells us about it or better yet, e-mail a picture of your car.
